New Straps for the Team!
Manila, 14 July 2012 – Today was a day-off for us, and we took the time to head over to Level Up!’s Cabal 4th-Year Anniversary Celebration at SM North Annex. Mai took some photos and she posted them on her Office Profile (Click here to view those photos), but that’s not really what this post was about.
A day-off really isn’t complete without a trip to a camera store, and one of our usual stops is Henry’s Professional. Good thing there was a branch at Trinoma, North Avenue, Quezon City. After the fun event at SM North Annex, we headed over to Trinoma to go to the store and have dinner with Jepster Togle and his girlfriend. As always, we go through all the items on our list that we need to buy to further improve the quality and variety of photos that we could take.
One of the things that I was really supposed to buy was the Canon 600EX. Unfortunately, the store said that they didn’t sell it (or maybe there really isn’t one), but they did have the Canon 600EX-RT. Before heading out for the day, I had done my research. Although many say that the power of the Canon 580EX-II and the Canon 600EX-RT are similar, a lot more say that the 600EX-RT is more usable (or user-friendly), and provides more quick-to-use options.
At this point, I already wanted to go with the Canon 600EX-RT. Sadly, they didn’t have readily-available stock of the unit so the really-friendly clerk advised me to have it ordered and reserved. Ok, so I’ll most probably do that on Monday with their Glorietta 5 branch.
But, the Canon 600EX-RT wasn’t the only thing that caught my eye. One other thing that I really wanted to have was the Blackrapid’s Double Strap, and the store had it. It wasn’t on my must-buy list so I passed up the chance to buy the item. So, I took some time with Jepster to take a look at the store’s prices for Canon and Tamron lenses, the Canon EOS 7D, and the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. Little did I know that Mai was already at the counter buying something.
To cut the long story short, I have new straps! Mai got her single strap from her friend, which we got today as well!
I think many photographers would agree that the next step to getting new gear is… TAKING PICTURES OF THEM! So, here are some more pictures of the Blackrapid DR-2 Slim Double Strap, which we’ll be using in the upcoming weddings that we have to cover. Excited!
